Quantification of green fluorescent protein fluorescence using real-time PCR thermal cycler.
Benchmarks Fluorescent proteins have become a widely used transgenic marker in the last decade because they spontaneously form fluorophores without the need for other gene products, they do not require external substrates, and they enable real-time monitoring in intact organisms. The currently available fluorescent proteins belong to either one of two families: the green fluorescent protein (GF...
متن کاملDetection of Ochratoxin a Using Molecular Beacons and Real-Time PCR Thermal Cycler
We developed a simple and cheap assay for quantitatively detecting ochratoxin A (OTA) in wine. A DNA aptamer available in literature was used as recognition probe in its molecular beacon form, i.e., with a fluorescence-quenching pair at the stem ends. Our aptabeacon could adopt a conformation allowing OTA binding, causing a fluorescence rise due to the increased distance between fluorophore and...
متن کاملPC-Based PCR Thermal Cycler
This paper presents a PC-based PCR thermal cycler with a host-local architecture, where a PC is employed as the host. The local system only executes the thermal cycling process and the PC is responsible for the management of PCR protocols with a convenient GUI. The presented host-local system greatly reduces the development time and the maintenance cost, providing an economical PCR thermal cycler.
متن کاملFrequency of Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) in Pterygium Using Real-Time PCR Based on SYBR-Green I Fluorescence
ABSTRACT Background and objectives: Pterygium is a non-cancerous growth of conjunctival tissue that can extend onto the corneal surface. The presence of some oncogenic viruses in pterygium and the neoplastic nature of these lesions led us to the postulated involvement of the viruses in the etiology of pterygium. Given the association of human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) with ocular disea...
متن کاملQuantification and Optimization of Candida albicans DNA in Blood Samples Using Real- Time PCR
Background: Candida albicans (C. albicans) is a major cause of candidaemia in people with impaired immunity. Blood culture is a “gold standard” for candidaemia detection but is time-consuming and relatively insensitive. We established a real-time PCR assay for C. albicans detection in blood by LightCycler PCR and melting curve analysis. Methods: Five milliliter blood samples from...
